Rashid Looking For Third Win

India’s Rashid Khan is looking to make a third time win of the Faldo series this year when it takes place at the Mission Hills Golf Club in China on March 10-12.

The Faldo Series has been extremely popular this season, with more than 100 golfers competing in the 14 Faldo series all over Asia. There will be a record number of 75 players taking part in the Grand Final, which will be hosted by Nick Faldo himself.

Khan became the first ever back-to-back winner of the Faldo series Asia Grand final in March 2009, where he matched the achievements of Nick Dougherty and Oliver Fisher, who both managed to win two consecutive finals in the European Final. Khan recalls his win by stating "I was told that I needed a birdie to win because the other player had chipped in for an eagle.  I just laughed and then chipped close for my birdie.  It was a great moment and overwhelming to win for a second time, not just as the first Asian golfer but also as the first Indian."

Nick Dougherty managed to win three Faldo Series in Four years before he turned professional, Khan feels that he can do one better though, and thinks that he can win three consecutive series. "I will definitely try to win for the third year running and I believe I can do it.  However it becomes more and more difficult as each time there is fresh talent and new challenges."

Khan states that his recent successes throughout the last two years are down to the advice that Sir Nick Faldo gave to him after he claimed his victory at Mission Hills. "Sir Nick told me to stay focused, enjoy the game while on the course, not put myself under pressure and avoid getting angry. I have followed that advice ever since and the results are there to see."

Boys and girls in the competition will be offered expect advice and support from Faldo himself and many other guest speakers. The tournament will be played under strict conditions over three rounds of the Faldo course, the Faldo Series Challenge Trophy will be presented by Nick Faldo himself.

The winners of the challenges, 3 boys and 2 girls, will be invited to play in the Series Grand Final in Europe in 2010. The overall winners of this competition will be invited to play professionally on the Asian Tour and European Tour.
