Matthew Southgate and Josh White to represent England

Matthew Southgate and Josh White are set to represent England at the 2010 Mexican Amateur Golf Championship. The championship will take place at Club Camestre Monterrey which is in Monterrey City on 18th 21st March.

The Mexican Amateur is played over 72 holes, with the International Pairs Tournament running alongside. The aggregate scores for the day are of both players counting.

Both players played excellently in last month’s Costa Ballena Quadrangular Tournament which was hosted in Spain. Southgate won every single one of his three singles whilst White remained also unbeaten.

Southgate 21, managed to come third last year and runnerup in the English County Champions Tournament held at Woodhall spa. He also helped Essex to win the county championship which was at Chipping Sodbury.

White, who is 18, had a very impressive 2009 also. He made his England debut in the Boys Home Internationals Team. He then went on to win the Surrey County Championship, sixth in the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters and came third in the McEvoy Trophy. He has managed to be the club champion for his club three times.
This is the seventh time that England have sent players to the event, but as yet, there has never been an England victory, maybe White and Southgate will give England their chance.
