English Ladies Help Junior Golf
English Ladies Golf Association, ELGA, are doing their part in charity fundraising with a little help from a few celebrity friends.
ELGA are organising a charity golf day and offers players the chance to play with some of the top lady golfers in the country. The event will take place in April and all proceeds will go the charity of English Womens Golf Association.
Some of the celebrities to be teeing off are Nick Faldo, comedian Jasper Carrott and Footballer Ian Wright. They have also helped donate prizes for the auction and the raffle.
The event will take place April 17 at Cambridge Meridian Golf Club. The competition is a team stableford and is an all day event with three course dinner and entertainment after. Some of this will include an auction and raffle with prizes donated by celebrities.
The charity is helping girl golfers throughout the country with coaching, tournament expenses and coaching. However the economic downturn has played its toll on the charity and grants have been cut back.
Ladies’ and men’s sections at every affiliated club in the country and EWGA business contacts are receiving invitations to support the event by either: taking up one of a range of sponsorship packages; entering a team of three players, who will join a top amateur or LET professional; making a donation; or giving prizes for the auction and raffle.
Sally Goulds, the chairman of the EWGA Trust management committee, appealed for support for the day: “This is a great opportunity to play alongside a top amateur or an LET professional and to invest in the future of girls’ golf. Please help us to make this day a success and to continue our support for youngsters who are starting out in the game.”
