Faldo Series UBS Honk Kong open: duo qualify.

Teenagers Steven Lam and Jason Hak have won a place in next week’s UBS Hong Kong Open. The teenagers won at the Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau golf course yesterday to qualify. 14 year old Hak and 15 year old Lam managed to compete with difficult windy conditions on Kau Sai Chau’s North Course to finish tied on 154 after 36 holes. For winning this tournament they will be meeting Nick Faldo in the grand final in March 2009. They will be joined by Liu Lok Tin and Shinichi Mizuno who are both 15, they finished third and fourth respectively.

Lam and Hak achieved a remarkable double by also claiming two of the four automatic qualifying spots on offer for the UBS Hong Kong open. The duo finished behind Hong Kong professional James Stewart in the qualifier and are now going to play alongside some of the top golfers in the world, including Faldo himself. The fourth sport went to the course professional Paul Riley after a three hole sudden death playoff with Wong Woon Man.
There are 12 Faldo series Asia events during 2008/2009. Some of the locations are Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore and Vietnam.

Over 60 competitors from across the region will qualify for the Faldo Series Grand Final at Missions Hills which will be hosted by Nick Faldo himself. The finalists will be hoping to copy 2007 champion Rashid Khan of India who earned a place in the international Faldo series Grand Final in Brazil.
