Dyson Wins KLM

Simon Dyson, England, has won a three way playoff and has taken the KLM Open in the Netherlands on Sunday. He had shot a course record-equaling 63 and was later level with Peter Lawrie, Ireland, and Peter Hedblom, Sweden on 15 under par.

However there was only one playoff hole for the final decision of the tournament with Dyson sinking an 18 foot putt with a birdie. Fourth and fifth places went to Damien McGrane and Darren Clarke.

Dyson was the first into the clubhouse after a superb final round including seven birdies. Lawrie had a final round of 67 to set up a play off with overnight leader Hedblom joining them after shooting a 69.

Lawrie had his chance for the tournament as he was one ahead of Dyson with three to play, however he bogeyed the 16th and later two pars.  Hedlom looked like he was slipping away but hit the flag on 17th and stopped two feet away.
The first play off hole had Hedblom shoot too far and over the green to bogey. The Lawrie was studying a five foot par putt when Dyson struck.

It was the 31-year-old's first title since he won the same event in 2006 and it earned him a career-high cheque for more than £257,000.

"When I birdied the seventh and ninth I thought back to doing the same when I won," said Dyson.
"Then I birdied the 12th like I did then."

He had also rolled in a 20-footer on the 10th, but the crucial one was a 35-footer at the 17th.
"It was travelling," he admitted. "It's funny when you see the line you're not thinking about the pace. That was a bonus."
